Having worked as an illustrator and freelance artist for 15 years I began to specialise in botanical studies in 2000. In 2002 I was accepted by the Royal Horticultural Society's picture committee and, in that same year, decided that my work would benefit from further study of my subject material. In 2006 I graduated with a BSc Honours in Biology from the University of Aberdeen. During my studies I was awarded a scholarship to work in the University's Cruickshank Botanical Garden. Some of my recent work focuses on the native flora of the British Isles. I was awarded a silver medal by the RHS at the Gardeners World Live exhibition, 2006, for work produced during my time at the Cruickshank Garden.
In 2007 I was invited to exhibit at th Hunt Institutes 12th International Exhibition of Botanical Art.
