Course Description:

Spend an enjoyable two or three days, using your artistic skills to illustrate and create a Botanical Portrait working from your selection of flora from The Elizabethan Garden’s greenhouses and grounds.   Learn basic drawing skills, observation, and tea wash watercolor technique to create a botanical painting.

The first day will include an introduction to plant anatomy by the garden's science educator, Shannon Brooks, as it relates to botanical painting.  The students will then "discover" their wonderful specimen, leaf by leaf - petal by petal, and create a line drawing to paint from. Each student will work at their own pace while the instructor "visits" with each student individually.

Linda will also show the necessary techniques from drawing to adding the final details throughout the course. You will also receive assistance and encouragement along the way from the instructor and interact with other talented artists to make the studio a very creative and supportive environment.

The course is offered in two time sessions options:

Three day Workshop:    $110 per student, five student minimum
