India's Blue Vanda grows on exposed rocks and branches of trees at elevations of 300-1800m in Meghalaya, NAgaland, Manipur in India and extends through Myanmar to Thailand.

 I have alwas been deeply moved by the magnificence of the azure blue flowers of this species. This is my third attempt at painting this species and the first time in its natural setting. It was in full bloom on a tree of Alstonia scholaris which seems to be an excellent host tree!
