Renanthera imschootiana
Van Imschoot's Red VAnda is restricted to the State of Manipur and neighbouring areas in North EasternIndia. It grows on small shrubs and trees at elevations of 300-500m flowering during spring. It is one of the loveliest species in India with limited distribution.
The branching spikes of this magnificent species can often attain 90cm or more and the multitude of flowers appearing like a shower last for a long time. The red flowers of thsi species reminds me of Earth and the lovely vermillion thatmarried Indian women put on their foreheads. I have been painting this species since Iwas in school and everytime I felt the thrill ofthe vibrantcolour fill me with energy and enthusiasm.
Limited edition prints available. All signed and numbered.
